Elevate Your Website with Smart URL Tricks

Hey there again! So we’re excited to share one of our all-time favorite tips to make your website stand out. This one is all about the power of keywords in your website’s URLs. It might sound a bit technical, but we promise, it’s a game-changer and easier than you think!

What's in a Name? Everything!

Let’s start with something simple: the name of your website’s homepage. Most likely, it’s something straightforward like “Home” or just the name of your website. But what if we told you there’s a hidden opportunity here?

Imagine you’re a coaching consultant in Canada, and you want everyone to know that. Here’s a neat trick: change the name of your homepage from just “Home” to something more descriptive, like “Coaching Consultant Canada.” This doesn’t mean changing the visible label that everyone clicks on (that can stay as “Home”), but rather the URL—the web address that gets people to that page.

How to Make the Change

If your website is built with WordPress, this is a breeze. Go into the page settings and update the page title to include your key phrase, like “Coaching Consultant Canada.” Then, make sure the URL slug (that’s the part of the URL that comes after your domain name) matches. For example, if your website is david.com, instead of the URL ending with /home, it could end with /coaching-consultant-canada.

Next, head over to the menu settings under “Appearances” in WordPress. Here, you can adjust the navigation label to keep it as “Home” for visitors, while your URL now cleverly includes those all-important keywords.

Why Does This Matter?

You might wonder why this small change is worth your time. Here’s the scoop: when people search for services like yours, having relevant keywords right in your URL can give you an edge. Search engines pay attention to URLs, and having your service and location as part of your homepage’s address can help you rank higher in search results.

Not Just for Homepages

This strategy isn’t limited to your homepage. Apply the same logic to other key pages, like your services page. Using the previous example, you could name a page “Coaching Consultant Services.” This ensures your most important keywords are front and center, both for your visitors and search engines.

Wrapping Up

Incorporating keywords into your URLs is a simple yet effective way to boost your website’s visibility. It’s a trick we love to share because it’s easy to implement and can make a significant difference in how easily potential clients find you online.

Remember, your website’s name and URLs are more than just addresses; they’re opportunities to tell the world who you are and what you offer. With a little creativity and these tips, you’ll be well on your way to a more visible and impactful web presence.
